Applies to: That's Rights!, That's Rights Agents and EasyRoyalties
When using these applications, your data is stored in a database file, which
can be managed independently of the application installed on each user’s PC.
When first installing the software, a demonstration database
is initialised and presented to the user. The default location for the demo
database is the \data folder in the directory where That’s Rights! is
installed. For example, for That's Rights! this will typically be:
C:\Program files (x86)\JDC
Software\Thats Rights v4\data\
The default database filename is “trdata.dat”
You can continue to use this database, or initialise another
database (with or without demonstration data).
To create a new database, go to Preferences > Connection management > Change database..., select "New database", then click "Browse..." and select a name and location for your new database file.
The database does not have to reside in the default location
used by the application’s demo database. The database can be placed in any
location, as long as it is located in the same local area network as the
application software.
For multi-user configurations, you can place the database
file on a shared disc or fileserver. No special software is required, however
any user who will be connecting their copy of That’s Rights!/EasyRoyalties to the database
must have read/write access to the location where the database is located.
Remote access from outside the local area network does not
work effectively, and is not recommended as it can result in damage to the
database. For remote access requirements, the recommended solution is to set up a terminal server and provide access to remote users via remote windows desktop. (Special installation procedures apply to the application
software in a terminal server environment; contact support@thatsrights.com for
more information.)
