How do I account for licensing revenues in my royalty calculations?
Go to the 'Royalty contracts' view and select the royalty contract for which you have licensing revenues to include in the royalty calculations.
Go to 'Royalty rules' (under the tab 'More') and at 'Royalty rules for' (top of the form) select 'Licensing'. Add one or more licensing rules and then click 'Details' (on the left of each activity entry line). At the window that will pop up go to the 'Royalties' tab and set the revenue sharing rate according to your agreement with the author, e.g. 35% on 'Receipt - Actual receipts from licenses (after withholdings.)'
Tips:
1. Your revenues from foreign sales (advances or recurring royalties) will not be accounted for in the royalty calculations until they are marked as 'paid' in the corresponding licence(s).
2. When you set up your royalty statement document, make sure that in the print dialogue the box 'Royalty from subsidiary rights activities' is ticked.
(These instructions are for setting up royalty calculations for licensing revenues manually. If you have a large number of contracts all this information can be imported from spreadsheets.)
